John Deere
Manufacturing Facility
A future without emissions
Seeking a future of low and near-zero carbon emissions, John Deere implemented a 240,875-square-foot site master plan and cost study to evaluate the establishment of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Upon completion of the master plan, Flad proceeded with the Phase I design which consisted of 100,000 square feet of manufacturing/warehouse high bay space and 15,000 square feet of finished office space.
Enabling them to expand production capacity and add to their growing product lines, the new facility consists of warehouse, manufacturing/assembly, and office spaces. Elevated rack storage of high- and moderate-hazard materials and an open-plan, high-bay manufacturing space enable a fully automated assembly process. High-bay spaces consist of tilt-up concrete wall panels and steel roof framing, while the front office consists of conventional steel framing. An interior, elevated equipment platform houses MEP equipment.
Employee wellness initiatives include on-site employee services and a highly visible front office, embracing a public view and utilizing the site layout to provide natural lighting and pleasing views. Design elements incorporate a cafeteria with outdoor dining space and flexible office layouts capable of adapting to future industry needs.
