Two Flad Renovation Projects for UF Health Earn IIDA Awards
A pair of Flad projects took home awards from the 2026 IIDA North Florida Illuminate Design Awards Gala. The UF Health Pediatric Unit 44/45 renovation won the large category. In the medium category, the renovation of the UF Health Acute and Intermediate Care Unit was the winner. The Illuminate Design Awards recognize projects completed in the last two years throughout the North Florida design community.
The UF Health Pediatric Unit 44/45 Renovation transformed two existing pediatric wings into flexible, age-responsive, and calming care environments that support healing, family presence, and clinical efficiency. Nature-inspired interior design, private rooms, and immersive activity spaces create a welcoming setting for patients from infancy through young adulthood while strengthening staff workflows and care delivery.
The UF Health Acute and Intermediate Care Unit Renovation is a 17,625-square-foot, med-surg unit renovation transforming an existing floor into a bright, patient-centered environment with 24 private rooms, including two Airborne Infection Isolation rooms. Daylight-filled interiors, reflective materials, and natural Florida-inspired artwork support patient comfort and recovery, while staff spaces foster collaboration, efficiency, and operational excellence.
