Gateway of Pacific Earns BOMA SF Outstanding Building of the Year Award

The Building Owners and Manager Association (BOMA) of San Francisco has named BioMed Realty's Gateway of Pacific research campus as the 2026 winner of The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Award in the Life Science category. The TOBY Awards honor excellence in building operations, sustainability, tenant experience, energy management, and overall asset performance.

Flad partnered with BioMed Realty to master plan this signature, high-rise research gateway, which establishes the 22-acre parcel as a welcoming entry to the South San Francisco biotech hub. Four completed phases of development, plus a building dedicated to amenities for the entire campus, are linked by an expansive, park-like landscape that evokes the feeling of a connected neighborhood, rather than a secluded laboratory complex.

As a local BOMA TOBY winner, Gateway of Pacific is now eligible for the Pacific Southwest Regional competition, which includes properties from Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Nevada.
