Scientific Workplace Campus Transformation

Enhancing workplace collaboration and engagement

This medical device manufacturer sought to transform its existing operations by revitalizing, repurposing, and renovating its campus to better accommodate growing needs. To optimize the campus for current and future requirements, Flad was enlisted to re-evaluate spatial flow and functionality across multiple buildings, redesigning 97,500 square feet of interior space.

The transformation repurposed an existing building to house a device support group for new clients, providing a centralized environment that can adapt to both short- and long-term needs. The revitalized primary circulation corridor enhances the flow of movement throughout the building, creating opportunities for visitors to view the consolidated manufacturing space. An enlarged cafeteria provides flexible seating designed to facilitate collaboration and provide nourishment opportunities for the entire campus.

In a separate, three-story building, a new customer experience center on the second floor provides a dedicated area for showcasing the client's products. This space fosters engagement with customers, offering a dynamic environment to highlight the company's innovative robotic solutions and strengthen relationships. Supporting varied work types, the design includes neighborhoods of desk space, casual seating, and enclosed focus spaces, as well as dispersed meeting rooms. Each floor features its own business lounge with large, arched windows, offering outside views and creating a casual setting for employee socialization.

The third floor is capable of hosting larger meetings through an operable glass wall that opens off the lounge. These versatile spaces accommodate a range of activities and ensure a seamless balance between collaboration and privacy. Additionally, an educational group on the first floor required expanded conference, training, and locker room spaces. Flad's design included larger, more flexible training rooms with updated technologies to accommodate growth. All spaces were transformed to align with the client's existing brand standards, visually unifying the campus. Throughout the project, Flad strategically located these branded opportunities to align with the client's mission of updating the facility
