School of Medicine Office and Laboratory Renovation

Transforming research space

Flad Architects has delivered strategic master plans, feasibility studies, whole-building renewals, and small renovations of off-campus research facilities for this top research university, including studies and master plans for five buildings and the interior renovation of 229,000 square feet of research, office, and amenity space. Flad has completed more than 40 projects with this academic client, including projects on the university's main campus.

To continue supporting school of medicine research capabilities, the university initiated the most recent project: a 48,000-square-foot renovation transforming a two-story leased office building into modern office and biomedical research space. The project began as a fast-paced feasibility study testing the building's research capacity and anticipated renovation cost. Once approved by university leadership, the two-story leased office building was transformed into modern office and biomedical research space.

The first floor provides efficient and collaborative wet and dry neuroscience and anesthesiology research space. The second floor is dedicated to shared scientific core facilities, significantly expanding support for school of medicine research.
