Research Center One

A catalyst for scientific engagement

Aimed at generating discovery, this facility is a streamlined composition of functionality and form organized in neighborhoods of activities. Lab types are combined to create multifunctional teams. Wet chemistry and biology labs are integrated with innovative design. The facility assists research efforts by providing a catalyst for scientists of different disciplines to engage with one another.

Glass walls and open labs provide transparency and allow occupants to enjoy views outside. Entry and conference towers present glass lanterns to the site and highlight common spaces within. A precast ribbon wall integrates the design with the rest of campus. Sustainable design is incorporated in all building systems, resulting in an anticipated 40 percent energy use savings and a 27 percent carbon emission savings.
