Livermore Valley Open Campus Master Plan and Ongoing Implementation

Enabling collaboration

This master planning effort provides a detailed "road map" defining all aspects of the 110-acre Livermore Valley Open Campus development, a joint venture between Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories. To leverage the groundbreaking research of these nuclear security labs, this shared site between the two adjacent facilities connects laboratory scientists and their discoveries with academia and private industry, accelerating research and the commercialization of technologies in a research park setting.

Flad's road map integrates recommendations regarding the development of programs, site planning, and real estate development planning, as well as maintenance and operations planning.

After establishing the original plan, Flad continues to work with the laboratories to update the master plan on a regular basis.

The Livermore Valley Open Campus provides a valuable magnet to enhance recruitment and retain scientists and engineers, while creating opportunities for the laboratories to integrate discovery-class science with applied science through a broad range of industrial, academic, and governmental partners.
