Architizer Vision Awards Recognize Flad Models for LSU Health Shreveport Medical Research Facility

Flad's models for the new LSU Health Shreveport Medical Research Facility were named an Architizer Vision Award finalist for the Physical Presentation Model category.

Flad created three distinct physical models for the LSU Health Sciences Foundation to illustrate different options for developing an abandoned Sears building into a state-of-the-art medical research and clinical facility. The models were designed using building information modeling (BIM) and 3D modeling software and were assembled by hand, demonstrating Flad's crafted approach and attention to detail. Each model offers a literal look inside the building to demonstrate the designs beyond floor plans and renderings.

Flad is partnering with the foundation and LSU Health Shreveport as well as Shreveport-based architectural firms Prevot Design and SBB Architects to lead the adaptive reuse project. The first phase of the project will involve the renovation of approximately 60,000 square feet of the 160,000-square-foot former Sears building into a flexible research facility. The space will feature open labs, office areas, and support spaces designed to rival other leading academic health centers across the U.S.
