Healthpeak's Vantage Campus Achieves LEED Gold Certification

The first two scientific workplace buildings on the Healthpeak Properties Vantage campus, as well as the Hangar amenities building, have achieved LEED Gold certification. Sited in the heart of the South San Francisco research hub, the two purpose-built science buildings offer more than 342,000 square feet of leasable, state-of-the-art laboratory and office space. Meanwhile, the Hangar features an eclectic food hall featuring local chefs, a full-service rooftop bar, fitness center, conference space, and more.

All three buildings employ high-performance building systems to optimize energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. This includes energy-efficient HVAC and MEP systems, LED lighting, and reflective roofing to reduce consumption and heat island effect. These strategies resulted in a 60 percent heating energy reduction compared to the ASHRAE 90.1-2010 baseline.

Fostering a symbiotic relationship between the built environment and the regional ecosystem, the campus' landscape features climate-responsive plantings to enhance ecological resilience. With 80 percent adaptive and 20 percent native species – including a 2,950-square-foot pollinator garden – the campus actively supports biodiversity. Efficient irrigation and the climate-responsive plant selections contribute to a 75 percent reduction in outdoor water use.

In addition, emphasis was placed on the use of building materials with recycled content to support sustainability and reduce carbon footprint, while efficient construction practices minimized waste and promoted long-term durability, ensuring the project's lasting impact.
