Chuck Mummert AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Chuck Mummert sees design as a tool to encourage the kinds of social interactions that lead to scientific collaboration. He thinks about how people do their work, whether singly or in groups, and how design can have a positive impact on the daily experience of the people using the building. Whether in a corporate setting, where oftentimes the goals are to reinforce the corporate culture and speed research and new product delivery, or in an academic setting where the focus is on the student and faculty connection, his attention to social ecology of buildings emphasizes communication and collaboration.

Much of the work we do for corporate and academic clients supports their goals for cultural development and institutional change. The building can do a lot to help or hinder it. Every aspect of the early phases of programming and design ends up being a thread that runs through it, whether you're looking at site design and its connection to the larger context, or the programming and amenities and diversity of spaces that will foster cultural development and social interaction.
