Sustainable safety

The mission of the U.S. Army's Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD) is to develop medical treatments to protect both soldiers on the front lines and ordinary civilians, responding to chemical attacks and training personnel to minimize casualties. Consolidating 15 existing facilities into a single laboratory, the dramatic design represents the highly technical scientific research within.

Research wings are organized by function, including pharmacology, physiology, toxicology, pathology, and biochemistry. The state-of-the-art facility supports research, training, and education, and promotes staff collaboration.

The USAMRICD also embodies the tenets of sustainable design, earning LEED Silver certification.
