UF Health Cancer Hospital
A cancer center with heart
RecognitionIIDA Wisconsin Design Award, First Place
As a cancer patient, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by a myriad of tests and treatments. Constant checking in and check-ups. A barrage of specialists and space-age technology. But the physicians at Shands knew it didn't have to be that way.
When Shands envisioned a comprehensive cancer hospital, they imagined gathering people together who share a common focus on the same disease. A multidisciplinary care facility with centralized services under one roof. An environment designed specifically to nurture cancer patients, complete with spaces for family members who support them during their long recovery.
Not simply a place to receive oncology treatments, the Shands Cancer Hospital is a resource for the community and a place to celebrate life. It has a healing garden, a patient information center, training rooms, and a conference center for health fairs, screenings, and workshops on cancer prevention. Above all, this facility will allow medical teams to provide patients with excellent care, while they continually develop improved technologies for diagnosing and treating cancer-related illnesses.
The new cancer hospital allows us to provide the latest treatments,
many of which have been developed by researchers at UF Health Shands Cancer Center, which is why our care
truly is 'bench-to-bedside'. We are in the business of putting cancer out of business, and having this
hospital will allow us to do just that.
