Stony Brook University Advanced Energy Center
The next generation of energy research
LocationStony Brook, New York
As a nation we need to conserve fuel, protect our environment, and diversify our energy sources. We need to find renewable ways to power our homes, our cars, and our industries. The Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center was created to help scientists do just that.
They study clean energy sources, enhance production techniques, and improve fuel efficiency. More than just a lab, the center provides a vital platform for interaction and collaboration among scientists, corporations, students, public institutions, and government. Working together to solve our energy challenges, a new generation of researchers will tackle this old problem.
By integrating fundamental science, nanotechnology, and engineering, researchers will design the next generation of advanced fuel systems. Ideas can be tested. New technologies can be developed. The future of energy will take shape. Flexible labs accommodate research as it changes and scales up. Presentation spaces allow ideas to be communicated to the public. And a commitment to the environment is evident in the LEED Platinum certification — the first such building in the state of New York.
The Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center is a true partnership of academic institutions,
research institutions, energy providers and industrial corporations. Its mission is innovative energy research,
education and technology deployment with a focus on efficiency, conservation, renewable energy and nanotechnology
applications for new and novel sources of energy.
