New Medical Centers

Flexible, accessible, affordable care

Sanitas USA and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee are partnering to expand access to quality, affordable care in the growing Memphis and Nashville metropolitan areas through a convenient one-stop medical center concept. These projects mark Sanitas' entry into Tennessee, building upon the momentum gained with their facilities throughout Florida, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Texas.

Flad was selected to provide design, permitting, and construction administration services for eight such centers across Tennessee. The clinics range between 7,000-12,000 square feet and will feature an advanced primary care model with an integrated, holistic approach to patients' health and wellness by offering numerous services under one roof. Each center will provide comprehensive primary care, urgent care, lab and diagnostic imaging services, insurance and financial counseling, and wellness management programs. Exclusively serving Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee (including Medicare and BlueCare members) and self-pay patients, the centers will make care more affordable and convenient, offering same-day appointments, extended hours, and enhanced digital tools and services to make connecting with care teams and medical center staff easier and more accessible.

Despite the challenges of designing six clinics simultaneously and the complications that COVID-19 has imposed on the design and construction industry, our team has continued to deliver the projects carefully and expeditiously. Design and permitting milestones have remained on schedule throughout our team's shift to a work-from-home configuration mid-project, and the clinics are on track to open in Q4 of 2020. On-time delivery of this project would not be possible without the team's continued close collaboration with the many stakeholders – equipment vendors, user groups, and various permitting authorities.
