Master Plan

A clear framework for evaluation

From numerous outpatient sites in several locations on the coast of central and southwest Florida to the 1.2 million-square-foot campus in downtown St. Petersburg, All Children's providers offer the most comprehensive, pediatric, and primary, specialty care services in the region. A strategic facilities master plan, based on clinical priorities and future plans for growth, realignment of services, and potential expanded service offerings, is the next step forward for the hospital.

The ten-year and long-term facility master plan is designed to create a fully functioning academic medical campus, including research and education facilities, administrative space, housing, and mixed-use and support facilities, such as parking and technology infrastructure. Consideration was given to the real estate assets and existing campus facilities, and the condition of those facilities.

The clinical prioritization process allowed the health system to establish a clear framework for evaluating each service line against a set of criteria and to consequently determine which services should be prioritized for strategic growth. Based on specific growth targets established for each of these services, ACH was ultimately able to project the master plan need for future inpatient and ambulatory capacity. This understanding of functional and capacity assessment of the ACH main campus, in addition to its off-campus ambulatory locations, informed primary decision-making, as did an assessment of the ability of facilities to support efficient and future-focused operating models and projected clinical activity and support.
