Located in the world-class Mission Bay biotechnology center anchored by the University of California, San Francisco, FibroGen focuses on the development and commercialization of new medical treatment in tissue fibrosis and HIF biology to develop drugs to treat fibrosis, anemia, and conditions associated with tissue damage, injury, and cancer.
As part of a design-build team, Flad worked with a developer to fit out 239,000 square feet of a six-story, Class A building for the biotechnology-based drug discovery company. The company's new space features biology, chemistry, and other specialty labs; lab support space; and administrative offices. The nearly 500 employees share common space, including a cafeteria, exercise room, and conference facilities.
Flad worked closely with FibroGen and the local utility company to design a building that incorporated California's Savings by Design guidelines. The result was an annual savings of approximately $250,000 in energy bills.
