Empowering human success

At Coastal Carolina University, the Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance is comprised of some of the fastest-growing programs of study. Serving to strengthen the partnership between the university and medical center, this new interdisciplinary facility provides modern updates with a significant focus on enhancing healthcare education, research, and community wellness initiatives within the region.

Home to programs in nursing, exercise science, physical therapy, recreation and sport management, public health science, and health administration, specialized, state-of-the-art experiential learning spaces are a primary feature of the facility. Integrated with enhanced technology capabilities, these simulation environments facilitate foundational hands-on training in nursing, physical therapy, motion analysis, and human performance. Labs dedicated to study of physical therapy, motion analysis, and human performance support degrees in physical therapy and exercise and sport science. A teaching clinic further augments clinical requirements in these programs, providing health-related assessments and educational programs to residents of the surrounding counties.

Designed to empower student success, a range of classroom sizes, active learning labs, collaboration spaces, and outdoor courtyards and terraces are open for all to use, encouraging the sharing of resources and experiences that will prepare students for interprofessional settings in the workforce and graduate study. Interior student commons, quiet huddle spaces, a café, and exterior courtyards and terraces provide places to study, collaborate, and hold events with the Dean’s suite and administrative support residing on the upper floors.

Designed to attain Two Green Globes certification, the project establishes a signature identity for the college on campus, inspires innovation, and redefines the academic workspace for a future-ready, interdisciplinary learning community.
