A biochemist as well as a licensed architect, she did postdoctoral work in a facility where scientists designed the labs and realized she could improve the lab environment. Sylvia's background has given her a unique perspective on the lab planning and design process, making her particularly attuned to scientists' explicit and implied needs; giving her the ability to translate their requirements into efficient, considerate, and highly functional laboratory design.
