Jim Gazvoda AIA

Jim Gazvoda is not a scientist, but his work is essential to researchers all across the country. Scientists are making breakthroughs in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals because he has a deep understanding of their processes, the nature of their challenges, and their needs from a physical space. In research and development laboratories, production plants, and pilot facilities, he looks for the convergence of science, process, and creativity and translates it into architecture.

To work effectively with scientists, we must apply a mindset that's very different from that of architects. We must understand what they do daily, how quickly it changes, and what's basic to their future success. Then we apply it to the built environment. We are succesful when we find that convergence of science, process, and creativity, and translate it into architectural practice.
