Flad Wins 3 IIDA Wisconsin Awards

Flad took home three interior design awards at the IIDA Wisconsin 2024 Celebrate in Design Awards Ceremony. These three projects were awarded in their respective categories:

  • First Place, Category: Creative Feature
  • Award of Excellence, Category: Project over 25,000 square feet
  • First Place, Category: Project under 5,000 square feet

The custom-designed metal panel ceiling located in the lobby of Ascendium Education Group's office headquarters was awarded first place in the Creative Feature category. This unique feature produces an uplifting atmosphere, mimicking the building's exterior design with metal panels to maintain a clean, minimal, and modern expression. The reflective feature is formed from three triangular planes that tilt downward to add a component of vertical dimension along with three recessed linear LED lights that originate at the corners of the space and meet at the crux.

For projects under 25,000 square feet, Flad won an Award of Excellence for a scientific workplace fit-out for genetics research organization eGenesis. Flad partnered with eGenesis to consolidate its corporate headquarters into a new, 16,500-square-foot facility featuring an open-office environment, centralized gathering areas, and a state-of-the-art scientific workplace connected to highly complex laboratory spaces. Incorporating curved lines, helixes, and the company's logo, the interior design engages staff and visitors while encouraging creativity and collaboration. Flad helped create this branded environment with use of color, pattern, science forms, and patient imagery at key spots of the environment.

Finally, Flad's renovation of its Madison office was awarded first place in the project under 5,000 square feet category. Enhancing collaboration and productivity, the three-floor renovation creates a new, interactive heart in the center of the building. Recognizing different work styles, the design accommodates staff needs and strengthens innovation, increasing opportunities for collaboration and impromptu connectivity. Clean, modern lines, increased transparency of spaces, strong color accents, and unique lighting incorporate branded elements while updating the renovated space. Technology upgrades in several locations allow connectivity in various daylit spots on different floors of the facility.
