Evaluating Innovation versus Evolution in Containment Facility Design & Technologies

The 16th CDC International Symposium on Biosafety

Sunday, March 01, 2020

Atlanta, Georgia

Mike Moreland, LEED AP, with Flad Architects, and Daniel Smith, with WSP, will be presenting at the 16th CDC International Symposium on Biosafety at the Westin Perimeter North Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. They will be discussing how to leverage advancements in technology while avoiding the potential risks associated with untested systems and components. The course reviews the differences between innovation versus evolution of containment facility design. They will explore the technologies to help make the most informed decisions when planning new or renovating facilities, as well as completing basic maintenance within high containment environments. Participants will better understand when cutting-edge technologies are appropriate and how those technologies should be evaluated, considered, and incorporated. In addition, the evolution of existing technologies that have a proven track record and their role in creating state-of-the-art facilities will be discussed.
