APHL 2023 Annual Conference

Tuesday, May 23, 2023
1:30 - 2:30 pm PDT

Sacramento, California

Mike Moreland of Flad Architects and Melissa Pearce of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will discuss the need for high-containment labs and how that need has evolved over the decades based upon global and national crises, including emerging infectious diseases and acts of terrorism. Presenting at the Association of Public Health Laboratories' (APHL) Annual Conference, the session will address the question of how public health lab system design and the associated program affinities inform a facility's operation, with a discussion of addressing the next pandemic and how to quickly modulate facilities for high-containment lab space.

The conference is a hybrid event for the public health laboratory community, bringing together leaders, scientists, influencers, and partners to share issues, trends and best practices driving laboratory science and public health today.
